 Difference between insulator and conductors

Insulators

Conductors

Definition

Those material objects which do not allow the charge (electric current ) to pass through them are called insulator or non-conductors. Those material objects which allow charge (electric current)to pass through them are called conductors.

Free electrons

In insulators are bound tightly with the nuclei. Ina conductor some of the electrons are loosely bound and can move about freely with in the material.

Example

Wood, plastic, rubber, etc. Copper, iron, aluminum, gold, silver etc.
