There are three types of magma: Basalt: It is very low in silica and gas. It has a very low viscosity and is produced at high temperatures, around 1200 degrees Celsius. It is very common in volcanic fields and creates thin lava flows that form shields. From Andesite: It occurs at temperatures below basalt, from 800 to 1000 degrees Celsius. It has a higher content of silica and gas and is moderately viscous. It is common in stratovolcanoes and produces mildly explosive eruptions. Create thick, debris-filled lava flows. Rhyolite: It is produced at the lowest possible temperature, between 750 and 850 degrees Celsius. It is very rich in silica and gas, it is also very viscous. It is found in caldera volcanoes and creates highly explosive eruptions that cause pumice, ashfall, and pyroclastic flows. If it has a low gas content, the lava can flow.
