Nutrients

Not all nutrients are energy sources, but they are necessary in one form or another.

These nutrients are divided into two types:

  • Macro-nutrients.
  • Micro-nutrients.

The above nutrients could be obtained from the environment. Bulk carbohydrates provide the organism with energy for the metabolic process. They provide a huge amount of energy that has to be converted used for energy. Bulk components include fats, proteins and carbohydrates.

Nutrients

Micronutrients provide important components in metabolism. They rebuild and repair damaged tissues to regulate body processes. Micronutrients include calcium, iron, vitamins, iron, minerals and vitamin C.

Important Nutrients in Food

There are many nutrients that cannot be metabolized by the body and must be consumed externally through food. These are very important for the body to function properly. The essential nutrients and their functions include are mentioned below:

Carbohydrates

It is essential for brain, nerve and cell development. It plays an important role in the production of enzymes and hormones. Dishes include cheese, milk, chicken, beef and fish.

Fats
