Onion Pan-Fried Pork Chops Recipe
I made this one day because I wanted something different than the same old fried pork chops (which is what my husband asked me to cook that day). So I quickly came up with it and he loved it.
Now he asks for them every time. I cook with boneless and bone-in pork chops. So no matter what type you have on hand, just cook them and enjoy.
Onion pan-fried pork chops are a delicious and easy meal that can be prepared in just a few simple steps. Here’s a recipe to get you started:
Ingredients:
- 4 bone-in pork chops
- Salt and pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
Instructions:
- Season the pork chops generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the pork chops to the skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until they are browned and cooked through. Transfer the pork chops to a plate and cover with foil to keep warm.
- In the same skillet, add the butter and onions. Cook the onions until they are softened and starting to caramelize, about 10 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for another minute.
- Add the chicken broth, Dijon mustard, honey, and thyme to the skillet with the onions. Stir to combine and bring the mixture to a simmer.
- Add the pork chops back to the skillet and spoon the onion mixture over the top of the pork chops.
- Cover the skillet with a lid and let the pork chops cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through and the flavors have melded together.
- Serve the onion pan-fried pork chops hot, garnished with additional thyme if desired. Enjoy!
