Etymologically the word planet refers to a shifting luminous star. Today the great 5 planets are called Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn. In ancient times they were known as five stars that rotated without a fixed trajectory. A planet itself is a luminous star that moves without a definite or circular direction. The 5 great planets do not have a specific path and when they move they do so individually.
In addition to these luminous stars, there are also groups of stars that move together and are called constellations.
A star is a luminous sphere that gravitationally inhabits space. It has the ability both to move and to remain static in an undefined place in the galaxy. Although the star originally produces its light and energy, there are stars that (due to their size) do not have light and require the accompaniment of another to be visualized from the earth. It varies in size and density. For example, the sun is a star larger than a planet, this in turn can be proportional to the size of a constellation. A star produces its own energy and gravity.
Differences between Planet and Star
- Planets are moving stars with no fixed direction.
- A star has the ability to be both mobile and static.
- A star produces its own light by staying static.
- A planet being in constant motion is illuminated only when it moves close to a stationary star. Example: the earth is illuminated by the sun.
- The star forms before the planet since this is the result of the creation of the mature star.
