Pork Fried Rice

This pork fried rice recipe is my modified version of another recipe. I often replace pork with chicken and it doesn’t make a difference. I used basmati rice and long grain rice, which gives the dish just a slight difference in taste. I have also added celery in the past with good results.

Homemade pork fried rice is easy and worth it. Tender chunks of pork tenderloin, a rainbow of vegetables and crispy bits of rice in a sticky, flavorful sauce, this grab-and-go classic is surprisingly easy to make and well worth the (minimal) effort.

Pork fried rice is probably one of the most popular Chinese takeaways. Anything involving rice and pork is likely to be a hit with the Chinese crowd (or any crowd that likes Chinese food). At my parents’ restaurant, we served pork fried rice as a side dish to many of our other entrees, so we made regular orders.

The Best Types of Pork Fried Red

A recommended type of rice for fried rice is also our everyday rice, jasmine rice. It’s an aromatic long grain rice with a nice texture and we find it always makes the perfect fried rice. We usually buy top quality jasmine rice imported from Thailand.

Rice must be boiled before making fried rice. We are often asked if it is better to use freshly cooked rice or leftover cold rice to make fried rice.

Our answer is that it is perfectly fine to use! Using leftover rice can be a little easier if you’re new to wok cooking, as it contains less moisture and is easier to break down into individual rice grains. But if you haven’t thought that far, you can also cook a batch of rice in your rice cooker just to make fried rice.

Pork Fried Rice may not look that glamorous at first, but when done right, it’s truly amazing. Just writing this post is making me hungry!

Add the rice and mix well. Once the rice is out of the fridge, continue to stir-fry until the rice is heated through, which should take about 5 minutes. If the rice was made fresh, you just need to stir until everything is mixed.

When it comes to fried rice, leftovers are the best, but how exactly did you make the rice? If you haven’t bought a rice cooker yet, you should consider buying one. We recommend a simple rice cooker that doesn’t have too many bells and whistles! For more information and helpful product links, visit our China Cookware page.

Add the sauce mixture and salt and stir with a spoon until the rice is evenly coated with the sauce. You want to break up any remaining bits of rice as best you can with the wok, but you don’t have to be obsessive. The rice should be hot at this time.
