Pilates

The Pilates method is a physical and mental training system that was devised in the early 20th century by Joseph Hubertus Pilates. This method is based on diverse knowledge of different specialties such as yoga, trauma, and gymnastics. Combine dynamism with muscular strength, breathing, relaxation, and mental control.

At first, it was known as Contrology, as it places special emphasis on the control of the body through the mind, always seeking balance and union between the two.

It seeks the development of the internal muscles to maintain the stability and firmness of the spine as well as the body balance.

It is widely used in rehabilitation cases, it prevents and relieves back pain.

JH Pilates was interned in a concentration camp during the First World War because he was German and was in England. While working as a nurse, he developed a technique to help strengthen patients by exercising in bed with a system of pulleys and ropes. This was the origin of the later Pilates apparatus.
