Artificial Pollination
Artificial pollination is a type of pollination that humans do. A mechanical system is used to irrigate plants when natural irrigation is inadequate or undesirable.
It needs neither the help of insects nor the weather. There are no natural sprinklers and introducing them can be risky, so alternative irrigation methods such as artificial sprinklers are recommended.
Methods of Artificial Pollination
This type of pollination is for vegetable plants as male and female parts on different plants.
- Take the male flower and remove its petals.
- Do not touch the stamens to prevent the pollen from reaching your hands.
- Look for a female flower whose petal is pushed back.
- Tap the petal of the male flower to the stigma of the female flower and roll it gently.
- The pollen will be transferred to the stigma and pollination will occur.
This method is only used for self-irrigating crops such as tomatoes, beans and peppers.
Stages of Artificial Pollination
- Male and female flowers are selected from different plants. Cover flowers to repel pollinators.
- Once the flowers are sexually mature, they are pollinated by one of the artificial methods.
- Gently rub the petal of the female flower and blow it to make sure the pollen touches it.
- Cover the fertilized flower again until it begins to produce fruit.
